My research interests cover the economy, society and administration of the Roman empire, the Roman army, the history and geography of the Hellenistic and Roman Near East, and Phoenician and Punic history. I have published on the role of the Roman state in mining and quarrying throughout the empire and publish on the economic, social, and religious aspects of this sector. At present I am teaching undergraduate modules on the Fall of the Roman Republic, Hellenistic and Roman Syria and co-teach on various postgraduate modules.
