Preparing for success: Master in Management

Dr Martyn Bradley, Director of Studies, shares advice as you prepare for the start of your master's programme.

Dear students,

My name is Dr Martyn Bradley and, as Director of Studies for Master in Management/MSc Management, I’m excited to welcome you all to the University of Liverpool.

Throughout the year we will have a host of interesting activities including opportunities to meet guest speakers, meet alumni, broaden your professional networks, a study trip, an employability trip and social evenings.

Here are my top tips for making the most of your time at the University of Liverpool:

  1. The more you put into your time here, the more you will get out of it. There are countless resources and opportunities available to you, make sure you get involved
  2. MSc Careers is a resource available to you as an MSc student. We are fortunate to have our very own careers team within our School and they will be a valuable source of information to you. Please attend the numerous employability events held in our enhancement weeks
  3. Your course becomes much more interesting when you really think about the topics you are covering and what they mean. This is also important, as you are now studying at a postgraduate level. Deep thought and critical analysis will help you delve into the complexities of the topics you engage with
  4. Maintain Commercial Awareness by accessing news sites such as BBC Business and Financial Times (you will have access to FT as a student of the University
  5. Be part of our community by connecting with your lecturers and our professional services staff. Consider becoming a student ambassador or a student representative.

I look forward to connecting with you and discussing your futures during our welcome week.

In the meantime, should you ever have any questions regarding your course, please feel free to contact me via email.
