Study abroad

The summer abroad is a great opportunity for you to get all the benefits of an international experience without being away from home for a full year or semester.

Our partner universities all teach in English and provide a range of incredible programmes centred around Business, Marketing, Accounting and Economics, with many of them including cultural visits to take your learning out of the classroom.

Semester abroad is the opportunity to study abroad in either semester one or semester two of your second year at one of our partner universities based all over the world.

During your semester abroad, you’ll study modules related to your degree and be able to transfer all of the credits you earn back to Liverpool.

Although the programme is not reflected in the degree title, it is recognised in the student’s Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR).

The Year Abroad is an incredible opportunity to spend one academic year at one of our partner universities, expanding your academic and cultural horizons.

Your degree will extend by one year, so, for example, a standard 3-year BA programme will take 4 years. You’ll have your time abroad recognised in your degree title too, to help you stand out in the employment market after graduation.

This is a special one-year programme at our English-speaking partner university Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in Suzhou, where students have the opportunity to study modules on Chinese history and culture.

The Year in China adds an extra year onto your degree, and most modules are delivered in English, but students will learn Mandarin, which provides them with the foundation to speak and understand the language to a basic level.
