Places visited: Cívitas Metropolitano
Having immersed themselves in the top-flight football match between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabéu on day one, it was time for the group to explore the behind the scenes of managing a football business.
The groups exploration took them to Cívitas Metropolitano, the impressive home of Atlético Madrid since the 2017–18 season. The stadium, located in the Rosas neighbourhood, was originally built and was intended to host the Olympic Games but the city’s bids unfortunately failed and the Olympic fanfare never came by.
Our FIMBA students were treated to a private tour of the grounds and explored the stadium's facilities and learnt of the concepts and ideas that inspired its final designs in addition to meeting Jaime Olabarría and Rosolino Amenta.
Jaime, International Marketing Manager of Atlético Madrid, gave a masterclass to students on international development and global marketing. The group marvelled on seeing great marketing in action which was awe-inspiring in addition to appreciating Jaime's and his team's approach to international marketing.
The day's masterclass continued with Rosolino, Global Head of Partnerships at Atlético Madrid. As part of his talk, Rosolino deconstructed the fine art of football clubs and partnerships and did so with infectious enthusiasm. It was great for the students to see how the practice of marketing and partnership were performed the Atlético way.
