Centre for Sustainable Business hosts Circular Economy Club Liverpool City Region event
As part of Sustainability Week the Management School’s Centre for Sustainable Business, together with the Circular Economy Club and colleagues from the University’s Sustainability Team, hosted a Circular Economy event at the Victoria Gallery & Museum.
The event was attended by guests from across the Liverpool City Region from public- and third sector organisations as well as local businesses. Professor Jo Meehan, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Business, introduced the session highlighting some of the key themes being explored by its researchers, inviting people to collaborate and stressing the urgency of the step change required to bring about new and impactful ways of working and living.
Informative and insightful presentations were given by Grace Harrison from Kitty’s Laundrette, Sam Marine from Groundwork, Rebecca Haynes-McCoy from Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority and Leon Rossiter from Peepl. Each presentation featured examples and strong narratives around the shift towards circular ways of operating, eliminating or repurposing waste and involving communities to create robust ecosystems.
Key threads from the presentations and lively Q&A session included the importance of: place; people; connectivity; access; social value and impact.
