Dr Janet Bastiman

Chief Data Scientist, Napier

After completing her undergraduate and master's degrees in Molecular Biochemistry at Oxford University, Janet earned her PhD in Computational Neuroscience from the University of Sussex. Subsequently, she obtained an additional BSc in Mathematics from the Open University and is presently pursuing a Master's in Finance.

She has spent the past two decades working in industry in multiple sectors across different business scales solving complex data problems. Holding roles as CTO and Chief Data Scientist for the past ten years, Janet leads the Data Science team within Napier, a UK Regulatory Technology company, creating solutions to detect and prevent financial crime.

In addition to her work, Janet is Chair of the Data Science and AI section of the Royal Statistical Society, advocating effective data science and the voice of the practitioner in regulations as well as advising on the format of degree accreditation.  She is also a member of the Financial Conduct Authority’s Synthetic Data Expert Working Group helping to provide support for the financial industry to use synthetic data appropriately.

Janet is passionate about efficient, effective, and ethical Data Science and promoting trust in AI and has given multiple talks on these topics worldwide, helping industry take practical action in improving their solutions.

Radhika Jakkula

Radhika Jakkula - LAMBDA Research Cluster Advisory Board Member

Big Data Prototyping Solutions Architect at AWS

Radhika is a Big Data Prototyping Solutions Architect at AWS and is based out of London, where she helps customers build prototypes using AWS analytics services and purpose-built databases.

She is a specialist in assessing wide range of requirements and applying relevant AWS native services, Big Data tools and frameworks to create a robust architecture.

Radhika has helped several customers in building data-oriented products through continuous iterations and improvements while embracing the challenge of handling petabytes to exabytes of data.

Outside of work, she is passionate about travelling and exploring new places.

Dr Sona Loretsyan‌

Dr Sona Loretsyan, LAMBDA Research Cluster Advisory Board Member

CEO/Co-founder A&SL consulting

Sona is a University of Liverpool DBA graduate, with an over 28 year-long career at the HSBC Group.

She has worked across three regions and seven different countries, developing roles in multiple areas, including retail and wholesale banking, insurance, etc. and with various functions, such as operations, transformation, risk management, HR and technology.

In her roles, Sona has worked with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, representing C-suit and senior leadership of organisations. In recent years, Sona has also become an active mentor and coach for her colleagues from across the world.

She is now semi-retired from the banking industry and manages her own consulting firm, which focuses on international mobility for professionals.

Sona is passionate about leading diverse teams in multinational environments and developing a new generation of leaders into more senior roles.

Sona would love to bring her decades of extensive experience to the LABMDA Research Centre Advisory Board.

Pauline Norstrom

Pauline Norstrom LAMBDA research Cluster Advisory Board Member

CEO and Founder Anekanta®AI

Pauline is the founder and CEO of Anekanta®AI, which through its team provides tailored Responsible AI risk modelling and management services addressing a range of high-risk AI and biometrics industrial use cases.

Prior to forming Anekanta®, Pauline built her corporate career of over 25 years, holding executive board roles in large/SME international industrial video and high-risk AI technology companies operating across multiple international jurisdictions including the UK, USA, EU and APAC serving a number of industrial sectors through complex value chains.

During this time, she developed her skills and experience in corporate governance, leadership, growth and team building, technology commercialisation, digital transformation, intellectual property, research, M&A and restructure.

Alongside her business interests Pauline has driven good practice for the use of AI and digital technologies in high-security applications since the early 2000's through industry, standards bodies and government.

Recently, she has focused on the ethical use of facial recognition in video surveillance, emphasizing the importance of a qualified human-in-the-loop to reduce bias.

In addition to her role at Anekanta®, Pauline advises several organisations on AI policy, governance and standards in the UK, EU and USA and holds fellowships with the IoD (FIoD), British Computer Society (FBCS) and Royal society for the encouragement of arts, manufactures and commerce (FRSA).

Jeetendra Singh

Jeetendra Singh LAMBDA Research Cluster Advisory Board Member

After completing his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from MIT Bihar and M.Tech in Applied Mathematics & Scientific computing from IIT Chennai and University of Karlsruhe, Jeetendra earned his MBA from the Alliance Business School Bangalore.

Subsequently, he obtained PG diplomas in AI & Machine Learning, Digital Marketing & Analytics and Sustainability Management.

He currently works as the Head of Data Science, GenAI and ESG Practice Leader at WNS Global Services, based in Bangalore, India.

With over 22 years of experience in AI, data, analytics, and engineering, previously contributing to organisations such as Ingersoll Rand, TCS, Delphi Inc., Ansys Inc. and IMI Inc.

His expertise span a range of emerging technologies including Generative AI, Knowledge Graph, vector database, Explainable AI, MLOps, data engineering, data quality and governance, application development and DevOps  

Jeetendra is eager to contribute his extensive experience to the LAMBDA Research Centre Advisory Board.

 Geoff Wainwright

 Geoff Wainwright , LAMBDA Research Cluster Advisory Board Member

Chief Operating Officer, Impact Data Metrics

Geoff gained his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Liverpool in 1995.

After a short spell in industry, he returned to research before moving into business, helping start-ups to grow and provide them with accommodation. During this period, Geoff had clients in the UK, Europe, North America and Singapore.

In addition to supporting early stage businesses and growth, he advised on the design and construction of more than 1million square feet of commercial office and lab space.

In 2017, Geoff co-founded Impact Data Metrics, a data analytics business helping property developers and local authorities leverage the power of complex data to support investment decisions and policy intervention.

Outside of work Geoff is the Chair of the Northern Schools Trust, a multi-academy trust providing innovative, non-selective education in both Primary and Secondary settings.
