Entrepreneurs Monthly Meet-up with Your Business Mobile and ThinK Wine Group

The Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship (BCfE) welcomed over 60 student/graduate entrepreneurs to meet local entrepreneurs in a jam-packed February’s Entrepreneurs Meet-up held at the Cotton Exchange in The Old Hall on Thursday 27 February.
The theme for the latest meet-up was sales with two local entrepreneurs from diverse sectors talking about their sales strategies from starting up to scaling their businesses.
Leon McCowan, founder of Your Business Mobile and Sales Director of The Sales Dojo has over 30 years’ experience and expertise in transformational sales growth in the mobile telecoms industry spoke first. Leon is a passionate advocate of passing on his selling skills to the next generation of business owners and in his talk, he shared his experience on how entrepreneurs with an amazing idea can sell their concept to others.
Katherine Jones, Founder and Director of ThinK Wine Group, a reduced-calorie, low-sugar and vegan wines business discussed her entrepreneurial journey which stemmed from her love of wine that was both kind to her waist and the environment. She spoke about how she has leveraged her Influencer Marketing background and the sales distribution channels to build her business.
The event also provided the opportunity for another six students from years 7-11 from the King’s Leadership Academy Hawthornes to pitch for start-up funding as part of the Enterprise Education in Secondary Schools Programme run by the Brett Centre for Entrepreneurship. £3,000 funding was granted to the students to help them towards their start-up’s or to help with the ongoing development of their business.
Special thanks to entrepreneur and angel investor Simon Squibb and entrepreneur and award winning start-up coach Anna Sexton that were so inspired by the work of the Brett Centre of Entrepreneurship to create the next generation of entrepreneurs, they gifted £1,000 each towards the project.
After the presentations, attendees were given the chance to take part in a prize draw to win 10 copies of Simon Squibb’s book “What’s Your Dream”, followed by informal networking with delicious food prepared by Pomegranate.
Commenting on the night, Mattis Declas, University of Liverpool BA Marketing Student said “Great to attend the Entrepreneurs Monthly Meet-up and thanks to Richard Leighton for setting up such a smoothly run event.
Speakers Leon McCowan and Katherine Jones advice around the theme of sales negotiations was very informative and is a great push for entrepreneurs regardless of where they might be in the development phase.
Connecting with like-minded professionals is what networking events are all about and great to meet and exchange insights on emerging industries."
