Commercial Trading Manager at BT
After graduating Jane Akokhia, worked as a Brand Specialist at Amazon and has recently started a new role as a Commercial Trading Manager at BT.
How did your time as a student prepare you for your current role?
My placement year with Asda prepared me for my current role; having the opportunity to work in a large organisation for a year allowed me to develop the necessary skills, such as communication and problem-solving, that would set me up for success once I entered a graduate role.
Other things that helped prepare me for my role were specific modules like Marketing Strategy and Project Management, which focused on research, analytics, and business understanding, as well as situational experiences someone might face in the workplace.
Finally, the Careers and Employability service (Careers Studio) is extremely helpful when it comes to the application and interview processes, as well as insights into different career paths. I used the Careers Studio from early on which massively contributed to my success.
