About

Joanne is a Senior Lecturer in Dental Therapy with over 25 years experience in dentistry. Currently Co-director for Undergraduate Programmes at the University of Liverpool, School of Dentistry, with a strong passion for the development of undergraduates in dentistry but particularly dental therapists. With leadership roles within the school she has been heavily involved with the development and the delivery of the Centennial Curriculum. Where BDS and BSc Dental Therapy students are fully integrated for the first three years of their programmes, interprofessional education is at the heart of this innovative curriculum.
Having worked up to an MA in learning and teaching in higher education Joanne has a keen interest in assessment and particularly programmatic assessment.
Joanne gained SFHEA recognition from the University of Liverpool in 2018 and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2021.
Current roles within the University of Liverpool include being a member of the Faculty Academic Standards and Quality Committee.
As an experienced examiner Joanne has had external examiner roles over the last eight years.
Externally Joanne is a member of the British Association of Dental Therapists executive council where she is currently in the role of Secretary. She is also the Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy Programme Directors group treasurer and has previously been Chair for the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry Merseyside Branch.
