The second in our series of policy briefing compilations focuses on the topic of inequalities, and how to tackle them through place-based policy. In light of the intersecting inequalities facing Liverpool City Region and the UK we bring together seven briefings from academics and policymakers addressing three questions:
- What are the consequences of inequality?
- What is the role of the state in addressing inequalities?
- How can place-based policy help tackle inequalities?
The pieces in this collection provide a snapshot of the inequalities present in British society, many of which were exacerbated and brought to the fore during and since the Covid-19 pandemic. They also provide hopeful solutions to addressing these inequalities through a place-based lens, providing examples of how devolution can enable policymakers to make more targeted interventions to address economic and social injustices.
