Susan Canning is the Director of the Centre for Educational Development and Support and a lecturer in Digital Education and Innovation within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of Liverpool, UK. With over 22 years of experience as an academic lecturer, Susan holds a BSc (Hons), MSc, and PGCert and is currently pursuing a PhD in E-Research and Technology-Enhanced Learning at Lancaster University. Her research focuses on the use of simulation in health education. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), Susan is also working towards Principal Fellowship accreditation.
In her previous role, Susan served as Programme Leader for the Network, Security, and Forensics pathway, specialising in Forensic Computing. In her current directorial role, she leads a team of experts who collaborate with academics, professional services staff, and researchers to advance pedagogical and technological initiatives. Her research interests encompass simulation, immersive technology, and student experience.
Since joining the University of Liverpool, Susan has played a key role in supporting colleagues within Health and Life Sciences in the design, development, and evaluation of technology projects that have significantly enhanced the student experience.
