About
I am an Environmental Chemist supporting research and teaching throughout School of Environmental Sciences, more widely through research collaborations across other Faculties within the University. Providing analytical services to external companies including consultants to the hydrocarbon and marine-based industries and UK/Overseas Universities. This involves elemental analysis, specialised lipid biomarker analysis, stable isotopes and analysis of dissolved organic carbon.
My research interests mainly involve marine biogeochemistry - determining the origin, quality and dynamics of organic matter within the water column and surface sediments in various benthic ecosystems such as submarine canyons; seamounts; shelf-seas, abyssal plains, sponge grounds and cold-water coral reefs. This includes related food web dynamics - how these benthic communities utilise and alter this organic matter.
