New Academic

If you have just arrived at UoL as a New Academic with a broad range of teaching responsibilities, completion of the PGCAP will enable you to develop teaching knowledge, skills, and values to enhance your students' learning while providing you with a teaching qualification and professional recognition as a Fellow (FHEA).

Further opportunities to develop your teaching career are shown in the infographic below. The Building Futures for Academics webpages and downloadable PDF provide more information about Connected CPD for experienced academics.

Please contact us if you would like to discuss how you might tailor development to meet your CPD needs.

As a junior faculty member, the PGCAP has helped my transition into academia. At the beginning of the programme, I was trapped in the silo teaching – research dichotomy, partly due to the inherent objective of becoming an independent researcher after completing the PhD training. Through the Patches and the active discussions with mentor, PGCAP instructors, and peers, I learn to gracefully embrace my dual identity as teacher and researcher.
