The University of Liverpool has a proud heritage; established as a civic
institution in 1881, the founding mission was to strive ‘for the advancement
of learning and the ennoblement of life.’ We continue to maintain strong ties
with local community groups and voluntary sector organisations and are
committed to working in partnership with government and non-governmental
organisations to apply our knowledge and expertise to local concerns.
