Funding
The department offers funding to support undergraduate and postgraduate students in the disciplines of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology at the University of Liverpool.
Peet Travel Award (Summer 2025)
The Peet Travel Award is available to support travel and associated costs for research into the archaeology and languages of the pre-Classical Mediterranean, including Egypt and the Near East, Greece and the Italian Peninsula.
Travel should be to the Mediterranean or other locations (such as Museums and Universities) where relevant material or archives are housed. Travel can also involve participation in an archaeological project, relevant summer school or similar activity. Please note that the range of awards is normally between £200-500.
The scheme is open to any postgraduate researchers and master's candidates undertaking research in a relevant area. Postgraduate researchers who have been awarded funding from the Peet Travel Award for two consecutive years in the past are not eligible to apply.

The deadline for applications is 04 April 2025 (5pm). Completed forms should be returned by email (marked as “Peet Travel Award” in the subject line) to HLC Finance hlcfin@liverpool.ac.uk by this date.
The Chris Mee Mediterranean Travel Award
The deadline is 31 March 2025.
The Chris Mee Mediterranean Travel Award has been created in memory of Professor Chris Mee to support undergraduate and taught postgraduate students in the disciplines of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology at University of Liverpool. Its purpose is to facilitate travel to the Mediterranean region where the recipients might take part in study tours such as with the British School at Athens or participate on an archaeological field project to gain a better understanding of the archaeology of the Ancient Greek World (covering any point from Prehistory to the Hellenistic Period across the Mediterranean).
The award is for up to two students covering costs of up to £700 each.
If you are interested in participating on the BSA undergraduate course please note there is a separate application and the deadline for that application is 15 March 2025.

You MUST speak with your academic advisor about your application as they will need to support your application with a reference. You could do this in Week 5, which is enhancement week.
