Getting started with LaTeX in room 302

1. Go to Start->Network->Office->Texshell 0.71. Amongst other things, this should put a TeXShell icon on your desktop. Don't start TeXShell yet!
2. Download the file texshell.ini by clicking on this link, choosing Save in the dialog box which appears, and saving it in your M:\texshell folder (which should exist if you've done step 1). This should replace any version of the file which is already in that folder. Don't do this while TeXShell is running, or it won't work.
3. Start up TeXShell using the desktop icon. If it doesn't have a button labelled View pdf (third button along), then something has gone wrong. Don't try to carry on regardless - call me over.
