UL-Grid![]() UL-Grid (University of Liverpool Grid) is the name given to a project which aims to provide access to various CSD and external computing facilities using grid middleware. Our aim is to make the middleware as transparent as possible to the end user thus giving the user a simple, yet powerful, way of accessing these resources. Jobs can be submitted to any of the four clusters currently in UL-Grid using the Grid Computing Server (GCS) which provides an easy to use command line interface or a user-friendly web interface called the UL-Grid Portal. The GCS also allows jobs to be submitted to other sites such as the North West Grid (NW-GRID) and the National Grid Service (NGS) is a similar manner to local resources. In addition, a distributed file storage system call the Storage Resource Broker is available and a MyProxy server giving simple yet secure access to grid certifcates.
