Suitable topics include but are not limited to: migration (including interregional and international); GIS and its application to planning and interpretation of regional development; description, interpretation and analysis of trends in metropolitan growth, demographic components of regional population change, the analysis of regional and international labour markets and employment trends, analysis of regional housing markets, the relationship between regional labour and regional housing markets; regional clusters, triangles and the spatial organisation of national growth strategies; regional trade blocs, pacts and agreements; regional development and deregulation; economic liberalism and regional development policies esp. New Zealand vs Australia; tourism and regional development in the Asia Pacific region; regional modelling; input-output modeling; the space-economy of services and transportation; trends in the development of commuting, telecommuting and urban labour sheds, sustainability and the region - assessments of the New Zealand Resource Management Act; impact analysis; developments in the practice of regional development; agriculture, commodity markets and regional development.
A Call for Papers was sent to all RSAI members by 1 August 1996. Persons wishing to present an individual paper should submit a title to the organisers by 1 December 1996. Persons wishing to organise sessions should submit a tentative session outline by 1 January 1997. Registration notices will be sent to all members of RSAI and any others who request this information by 1 Feb 1997. Abstracts (200 words) are required by 1 August 1997.
