Infrastructure and Regional Development, edited by Roger Vickerman, was published in August 1991 as the first volume in the European Research in Regional Science series, published by Pion Limited, in association with the British & Irish Section of the RSAI. The second volume in the series was published in 1992 under the title of Sustainable Development and Urban Form and editorship of Michael Breheny. In 1993, the third volume was published with the title of European Networks, Border Regions and European Integration, under the editorship of Riccardo Cappellin and Peter Batey, and contains papers presented at the 1992 Louvain-la-Neuve European Congress plus several specially commissioned papers.

The fourth volume, entitled Issues in Environmental Planning, appeared in August 1994, edited by the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the Groningen Congress, Henk Voogd. The fifth European Research in Regional Science volume appeared most recently under the title Convergence and Divergence in European Regions, jointly edited by Harvey Armstrong and Roger Vickerman.

Microsimulation for Urban and Regional Policy Analysis, edited by Graham Clarke of the University of Leeds, is to be the sixth volume in the European Research in Regional Science series. The provisional titles of contributions to this volume are set out below.

Part A : Microsimulation Methodologies

Chapter 1: 'Introduction', Graham Clarke.
Chapter 2: 'Urban and regional modelling at the microscale', Mark Birkin, Graham Clarke, Martin Clarke, University of Leeds.
Chapter 3: 'A life course approach to urban dynamics', Pieter Hooimeijer, University of Utrecht.

Part B : Applications

Chapter 4: 'Community health care policies for the elderly: a microsimulation approach', Paul Williamson, University of Liverpool.
Chapter 5: 'Housing and commuter patterns: a network simulation', Michael Wegener and Klaus Spiekermann, University of Dortmund.
Chapter 6: 'Estimating local water demand: a simulation policy tool', Graham Clarke, Adrian McDonald, University of Leeds and Paul Williamson, University of Liverpool.
Chapter 7: 'Simulating income and wealth in the US', Steve Caldwell and Lisa Keister, Cornell University, New York.
Chapter 8: 'Full-scale microsimulation in Sweden', Einar Holm, et al, University of Umea.
Chapter 9: 'Simulating a firm's production process', Mike Danson and Adrian Lavercombe, University of Paisley.
Chapter 10: 'Conclusions', Graham Clarke.

It is planned that each book in the series should be based on a collection of papers drawn from one or other of the regional science conferences and work- shops held in Europe. The Series Editor, Peter Batey (University of Liverpool), would welcome proposals from conference session organisers for theme collections for inclusion in the series. A ten-month turnround of papers is the annual series target.
