Structure of a Zeolite

The structure below shows the zeolite known as 'faujasite'. The green atoms are Ca2+ ions which balance the negative charge on the Si-Al -O framework

The faujasite structure is made up by joining a series of sodalite cages through their square faces. A sodalite cage is shown below. The Si atoms are located on the vertices of a truncated octahedron
