West Kirby "Pier" at Low water.
This structure is attached to the SW corner of the marine lake and the top is the height of the marine lake wall (tide level about 9.3m). The bottom of the top wooden support beam is at tide level about 8.6m. The bottom of the pier corresponds to a tide level of 6.7m or so. (Liverpool tide heights given)
The "pier" is accessible by shallow draught boats from tide height 8.0m or more. It is used by the West Kirby Yacht Club boat that transports members to and from moored yachts.
The launching ramp at West Kirby has a small "quay" at one side. This is mainly intended for loading/unloading people from trailer-launched boats at HW. The bottom of the ramp is reached at a tide level of about 7.5m.
The Thurstaston Causeway (near Dee Sailing Club House) is a metalled "road" across the sand/mud which gives access to the sea from half-tide up but which covers towards HW. It is mainly used to launch dinghies and tenders to access boats moored nearby.
