The Honours Year contributes 80% to the mark of your final degree class. The remaining 20% is based on the mean mark that you obtained in your examinations in Year 2. The only exceptions are in Applied degrees and Life Sciences with a European Language, where there is also a contribution from the placement or year abroad, reducing the contribution from Year 2.
The Honours Year will be assessed by course-work, project and examinations. The details vary between Honours Schools. An Examination Statement, outlining the allocation of marks, assessment procedures and related matters is included in the Honours Handbook for each School. You will be given this either at registration or at the start of term in September 2001.
