Vanessa Reed

As President and CEO of New Music USA, a national resource which supports the creation, performance and appreciation of new music, Vanessa has a long, distinguished track record as a strategic leader, devising programmes to help create opportunities for musicians and performers.

Vanessa moved to New York in August 2019 following a decade as CEO of the PRS Foundation (UK) which she transformed into an international go-to-partner for major artist development programs. She is founder of the international Keychange program for gender justice in music and has received multiple awards for her work including from Classical Next (Rotterdam), Royal Philharmonic Society, The Ivors Academy, and the BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour Power List 2018, which named her the 3rd most influential woman in the music industry after Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

Vanessa was proud to serve on the Board of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic before moving to the US and has strong links to the city through her father, who is an alumnus of the University of Liverpool, her husband, who founded FACT, Liverpool’s state-of-the-art centre for film, art and creative technology, and her love of Liverpool FC.

I’m honored to be an ambassador for the new Yoko Ono Lennon Centre at the University of Liverpool. Liverpool’s status as an iconic music city is recognised across the world. New facilities which incubate talent and innovation will help the city to sustain and grow this reputation for future generations.
