Paternity Leave is available to allow employees time away from work following the birth or adoption of a child to enable them to provide care for the child and/or support the partner after a birth or adoption.

Key Points
- The University has made improvements to its Maternity, Adoption, Paternity and Shared Parental Leave policies. These were implemented from 1 June 2023. To find out how these changes may affect you, please read these FAQs alongside the policy below
- Eligible staff are entitled to take up to four weeks' paid Paternity Leave after the birth or adoption of a child. This can be taken as 4 consecutive weeks or as 2 blocks of 2 weeks.
- You may begin your Paternity Leave from the day of birth or adoption and should complete it within 52 weeks of the date of birth or adoption.
