Pathways to Banking and Finance
Pathways to Banking and Finance is a 2 year project that is delivered in partnership with the University of Liverpool Management School, the Sutton Trust and the University's Widening Participation & Outreach team.
During the project, participants will have the opportunity to discover the various subject choices related to business at university, including;
- Accounting and Finance
- Business Economics
- Business Management
- Economics
- Finance and Data Analytics
- International Business
- Marketing.
The project aims to inspire and support students to progress into Business-related courses at university, and then onto a range of careers in the Banking and Financial sectors, including accountancy, investment banking, tax and asset management.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Attend University taster sessions on campus
- Take part in various work experience placements within the Banking and Finance sector
- Attend industry insight events
- Meet staff and students from the University of Liverpool Management School
- Receive information, advice and guidance about Higher Education, including UCAS and Student Finance
- Attend a 3-day residential conference at the University of Warwick with Pathways to Banking and Finance students from across the country
- Receive academic support, including A-Level tutoring in Year 13.
Eligibility
Students must:
- Attend, and have always attended, a state-funded, non-fee paying school or college
- Be a current Year 12 student
- Have achieved at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4, including GCSE Maths at a Grade 6
- Be able to commute to University of Liverpool.
Students should meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Parents have not attended University
- Have been in receipt of or eligible for Free School Meals while at Secondary School
- Attend a school or college with a below-average A-level or Higher point score and/or a low rate of progression to higher education.
- Live in a neighbourhood with a low rate of progression to higher education and/or a high level of socio-economic deprivation.
- Have been looked after or in care.
Whilst you only have to meet one of these criteria to be eligible, please note that the more criteria you meet, the more likely you are to secure a place.
