Widening Participation Scholarships Officer

I have been working in outreach for almost 10 years, originally as a Graduate Advocate and Assistant Project Officer in the Widening Participation and Outreach team, before joining Shaping Futures, the Merseyside partnership of the national UniConnect project. At Shaping Futures I undertook a range of roles, including leading on strategic outreach and supporting students from under-represented groups. 

I am currently the Widening Participation Scholarships Officer, promoting and administering a range of scholarships designed to support widening participation students. I am also part of the Liverpool Plus team, working on a new transition and success project which will be launching in September 2024. Liverpool Plus will provide a comprehensive programme of activities for students, to allow them to make the most of their time at the University of Liverpool. It will promote a range of opportunities and provide them with 'first look' or priority access to schemes like the Liverpool Advocate programme. 

Working with my colleague Natalie, I chair the Widening Participation Student Panel, an opportunity for students to provide feedback on different elements of their university experienced, and co-create new initiatives closely tailored to their needs. 

I also lead on communications for the team, and am pleased to be the link member of staff for the IntoUniversity Kirkby Centre.
