I graduated with a degree in Psychology in 2011 and since then I have worked in both a careers capacity and within a couple of Higher Education institutions in the North West. Having been the first in my family to go to university, and seen some of the barriers that young people face in their journey to higher education, I developed a passion for higher education and supporting groups who to do not traditionally progress onto university.
I run the Professor Fluffy programme for Years 5 and 6 which works with thousands of young people from selected primary schools across Greater Merseyside. We work with schools to raise aspirations of their pupils and introduce the idea of university whilst providing positive role models to convey the messages.
I also organise the Merseyside Young Medics outreach programme for years 9 – 11. This long-term programme of medicine and health-related activities and support for young people in selected secondary schools aims to give those taking part an insight into medical careers, exposure to work experience opportunities and curriculum support.
In addition I am responsible for the Health and Life Sciences residential event which takes place in June. This 3 day, 2 night residential is for Year 10 pupils from selected schools who have an interest in pursuing a degree in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.
