Deonne Hill
Widening Participation Manager
I joined the Widening Participation and Outreach team in June 2004 and have been here ever since!
During my time in the team I have had the opportunity to undertake various roles and lead on a wide range of outreach programmes.
I am pleased to have management oversight of the University’s new student transition and success project 'Liverpool Plus' which will:
- Deliver a programme of enhanced welcome, induction and transition work for specific target groups
- Build cohorts/networks and a sense of belonging
- Work with academics and Faculty support staff to identify students for interventions
- Offer opportunities for student voice and co-creation
- Signpost to existing support mechanisms
- Work closely with the University Careers and Employability team to offer an enhanced employability offer.
My team continue to support access for applicants who have experienced a disrupted education such as care leavers, asylum seekers, refugees and students with caring responsibilities or estrangement from family.
I also have management oversight of the development and administration of competitive and donor funded widening participation scholarships, including the Divock Origi Scholarship, the Cowrie Foundation Scholarship and the Asylum Seekers Scholarship, for which I am the chair of the awarding panel.
I am a Designated Safeguarding Contact within the WPO team and I lead on safeguarding for the team and I have been a Governor at Prescot Primary School in Knowsley since 2018.
