Synoptic Exam - How to enrol
Upon successful completion of all six CertAVP modules, those candidates who are working towards a designated certificate must also pass a Synoptic Examination.
The University of Liverpool provides the Synoptic Examination as a separate examination on behalf of the RCVS.
Please be aware that the Synoptic Examination is not an examination of module content; rather, it is an all-encompassing examination on the subject of your chosen designation, wherein candidates present themselves to be examined as an Advanced Practitioner in the subject.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you are aware of the scope and content of your chosen designation, and that you are adequately prepared for the examination. We are unable to provide access to lectures, notes or other module content for modules that you are not currently studying with us.
Delegates who attain designated certificates are eligible to apply for Advanced Practitioner Status with the RCVS. Further information can be found here.
Eligibility
Candidates must have successfully completed the 60-credit combination required for the designated certificate of which at least 30 credits must be obtained from the University of Liverpool. Please do not apply until you have all module grades awarded.
Second Designations
Candidates must take at least three further B or C modules (30 credits), in addition to the 60 credits already achieved, before they will be eligible for a second synoptic examination. You must have the correct modular combination to sit a synoptic exam but may have gained additional modules outside those necessary for a particular designation.
Candidates may only take one synoptic exam per year from any assessment provider
