Veterinary Laboratory Service

The Department of Veterinary Pathology and Public Health, Institute of Veterinary Science offers a Diagnostic Service, incorporating post mortem examinations, histopathology, cytology, ultrastructural and microbiology services. A dedicated and comprehensive service for Forensic Veterinary Pathology is also available, including Forensic Entomology.

The group also provides a Research Pathology Service, comprising histopathological, immunohistological, ultrastructural and microbiological studies.

The material obtained by VLS is used for both undergraduate and postgraduate training, and research in veterinary pathology.

The facilities within the Institute and beyond support broad postgraduate training, including two European Board recognised training programmes (European College of Veterinary Pathology and European College of Veterinary Microbiology).
