Student representation and societies

Our students are crucial to the management and development of our school, particularly through the actions of the student-elected course and school representatives.

Course representatives

Two students are nominated by their classmates each year to act as their representatives. These 10 students sit on the Staff:Student Liaison Committee, providing feedback to staff on the student experience and driving strategic change through enhancement projects, and undertake many social and academic duties on behalf of their peers throughout the year.

School representatives

These student-nominated positions ensure the student voice is central to the functioning of the school around curricular change and management, and recruitment and admissions processes. Each representative role has a one-year tenure, with new reps elected at the end of each academic year.

Student societies

There are many ways for our students to get involved in social, sporting, clinical, scientific and community activities, through the many societies and activities overseen by the highly active student society - the Liverpool University Veterinary Society (LUVS). Clinical/scientific subsocieties

Whatever your sphere of interest, there’s a society for you! The clinical and scientific subsocieties provide support for learning and development of specific interests across a wide range of areas, and if there’s not one for your particular penchant, there’s always space for new subsocs!

The Liverpool Veterinary LGBT+ society represents the LGBTQ+ community and provides fun, support and education for everyone!
The brand new Liverpool Veterinary Sustainability Society (LVSS) was founded in 2021 and is using inspiring and innovative methods to make our School as environmentally sustainable as it can be!

Sport groups

However you like to keep active, and whether you’re a competitor or a casual player there’s a sporting group for you. As well as arranging regular practice and games among the student body, our sporting societies love to organise informal wellbeing sessions and staff:student fundraising matches including:

Students in the School of Veterinary Science can get involved with a wide range of external bodies, bringing extracurricular learning opportunities to their peers and experiencing engagement with large and influential veterinary or institutional organisations.
