Meet our students
We have a team of current international students who can act as ‘buddies’ to help new students with gathering information and settling in.
Marianna
Hello! I'm Marianna, an international student enrolled in the veterinary science program here at the University of Liverpool.
Despite previously living in Canada, I opted for Liverpool due to its affiliation with the Russell Group universities, renowned veterinary school, and exceptional staff. I've really come to adore this city with its vibrant energy and friendly people. It’s truly been an incredible experience and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead!
Victoria
I’m Victoria, originally from Uruguay, and emigrated to Miami when I was young. I am very proud to be a member of the Latino community in veterinary medicine, and I chose Liverpool because of how well they take care of their students.
I have always felt supported by the staff here, they really want help you and see you succeed. I also fell in love with the city and its people, who are funny, friendly and ready to accept you with open arms. Choosing Liverpool was one of the best decisions I have ever made, even though my tropical soul still shivers under many layers!
Ionna
Hi! My name is Ioanna, I’m from Cyprus, and currently a third-year vet student with a soft spot for cats.
Liverpool was my top choice as an applicant mainly because I liked the course content and the idea that it is a university with its own teaching hospitals and farms. The city has direct transport links to not only Liverpool and Manchester airports, but also the rest of the UK, which was another thing I loved since it makes traveling home and going on trips anywhere a lot easier.
Choosing Liverpool was definitely the right decision for me. I’m really enjoying the course and how hands-on it is, and the city is so vibrant, with so many things to do and the loveliest people, so I absolutely love living here!
James
My name is James Clark, I am a third year student studying Veterinary Medicine at the University of Liverpool. I am from Gaborone, Botswana and have lived there my whole life.
I have been in the UK for 3 years and feel that I have some what acclimatised (although it will always be too cold). I have a keen interest in sustainable farming and protein production, as such my focus in vet school is around farm animals and production.
The first time I ever came to Liverpool was 1 week before my first year began, throughout my time in the UK I have managed to travel to many cities and although many of them are awesome, I can confidently say that I would chose to be in Liverpool every time. I have so many great things to say about this city from its low cost of living to the secluded cocktail bars, it will always have a special place in my heart. I hope that you will come to find this as well.
Gabi
My name's Gabi and I'm a fourth year vet student from Lithuania. Studying Veterinary Medicine at the University of Liverpool allowed me to discover Liverpool, a city famous for its unique culture, history and majestic architecture, and I also got to know the Wirral, which is an incredible place for the outdoorsy people like me!
Kaylagh
Hi! My name is Kaylagh and I’m a third vet student originally from South Africa, having lived in Northern Ireland before moving to Liverpool for my vet studies.
Liverpool was my first choice for studying in the UK because of the very hands-on approach they have with their teaching style, with their own teaching hospital and practice to boast, and the many things the city has to offer between the rich and diverse culture, football and very affordable low cost of living.
I am dairy cow obsessed and wholeheartedly love cats. Outside of vet school and my job, you will find me in the gym - which surprisingly helps a lot with shifting calves that weigh nearly the same as me when born!
Alexandra
My name is Alexandra and I'm a final year student. Coming from a small town in Cyprus, Liverpool has been a big transition in my life, but undoubtedly, one of the best decisions I've made!
The university has so many amazing staff who are always willing to help and countless facilities which have furthered my learning. The city has so much to offer both within and outside of campus, such as fun nights out, places to explore and societies to join.
Moving to Neston in the final two years has also enabled me to apply my skills and knowledge in the teaching hospitals and prepare to be a vet whilst enjoying the countryside!
