About

I am a farm vet and RCVS Recognised Specialist in Cattle Health and Production. After qualifying as a vet, I worked in mixed practice in North Wales for a few years before undertaking a clinical residency in farm animal medicine at Bristol University. Subsequently I worked for three years at Liverpool University as clinical lead of the Farm Animal Practice and Hospital. I moved to Nottingham University when I won a Wellcome Trust Fellowship and completed a Master’s degree in Statistics and a clinical PhD. My PhD was interdisciplinary (psychology, behaviour change and Bayesian statistics) in the context of dairy herd health. Afterwards, I spent a year setting up the new Veterinary School at Surrey, before returning to Liverpool where I have held a variety of leadership roles. I am currently subject lead for Animal Husbandry and Welfare within the Veterinary School.
