Who will own your data?
The University of Liverpool’s School of Veterinary Science (SVS) is part of the University of Liverpool (UoL) and the UoL is the Data Controller. Full details of University's data protection policies are available here.
Why we need your information?
As part of the requirements of our accrediting bodies, the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), EAEVE (European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education) and the RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons), we may be required to contact anyone who has undertaken a course of study with us in order to comply with statutory reporting and accreditation standards. The purpose of contacting you will include:
- Gathering feedback from you about your experience on the course
- Inviting you to feed comments into programme development
- Hearing your reflections on preparedness for employment
- Finding out about your current employment status
- Informing you of future CPD opportunities
- Giving you the opportunity to share your views to help inform future delivery and enhancement of our course.
We would also wish to contact you from time to time to share details of events, career development opportunities and update you on news via our newsletters.
What type of data will we require?
The type of personal data we may hold could include your name, address, employment details, email address and telephone number.
Who will your information be shared with?
- Anonymised data will be shared with statutory reporting bodies such as our accreditation bodies
- SVS staff responsible for managing education programmes, research activities and projects.
How long will your data be kept for?
The current period between accreditation visits is 7 years, however it is useful to retain data for longer than this. If you do not wish for your data to be held beyond the 7-year period, you can withdraw consent at any time by emailing VetSchoolDean@liverpool.ac.uk
Will your data be transferred abroad?
Anonymised data may be shared with international organisations for accreditation and statutory reporting purposes.
Will this information be used to take automated decisions about you?
No, the information will not be used to take automated decisions.
What rights do you have when it comes to your data?
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation, you may have the following rights with regards to your personal data:
- The Right to subject access – you have the right to see a copy of the personal data that the University holds about you and find out what it is used for
- The Right to rectification – you have the right to ask the University to correct or remove any inaccurate data that we hold about you
- The Right to erasure (right to be forgotten) you have the right to ask the University to remove data that we hold about you
- The Right to restriction – you have the right to ask for your information to be restricted (locked down) on University systems
- The Right to data portability – you have the right to ask for your data to be transferred back to you or to a new provider at your request
- The Right to object – you have the right to ask the University to stop using your personal data or to stop sending you marketing information, or complain about how your data is used
- The Right to prevent automated decision making – you have the right to ask the University to stop using your data to make automated decisions about you or to stop profiling your behaviour (where applicable).
