Registration and abstract submission closed on 5^th Novermber. A limited number of day only rate places will be released once the programme is finalised in late November – Check our registration page regularly for details coming soon.

Crèche facilities

For all those with young children considering attendance at the Joint Assembly of TSG-VMSG-BGA in Liverpool 4-6th January 2017 we have an exciting announcement. We plan to offer crèche facilities for delegates with young children whose attendance would be restricted by the requirement for childcare. We are currently awaiting further funding decisions but TSG have kindly offered to fund a number of places, and we aim that the crèche will be free or heavily subsidised for conference attendees with children aged 12 months – 8 years. If your attendance at the 2017 conference is dependent on the provision of a crèche, then please email creche.liverpool@gmail.com. In your correspondence please state the age of the child(ren) and any other specific needs, as well as your primary affiliation (TSG, VMSG or BGA and whether you’ve attended one of the conferences previously). This will help us to establish the needs and costs of the crèche provision. Places will be limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, but we aim to provide an answer in a timely fashion to allow registration for those awaiting a decision.

Geo-cake competition

The local organising committee are excited to announce a new competition for 2017 – the Geo-cake bake-off! All delegates are encouraged to create their best geological cake designs and bring them along to our conference dinner & party on January 5^th where we’ll be tasting and voting to decide the winner!

So whether it’s a stratigraphically layered Mille-feuille, a jam-packed igneous intrusion sponge-cake or a dip-slip faulted tiramisu, get practicing now for your chance to win – and we’re not just talking about the admiration of your peers!
