Job Description
As Senior Researcher Developer, I lead The Academy’s career and professional development programme for all staff who research at the University. While I have a focus on supporting postdoctoral researchers, research assistants and early career research fellows, I also work with the Organisational Development team to support the development of managers of researchers and established researchers.
I have 11 years’ experience working with researchers in UK higher education institutions, having been a postdoctoral researcher and MRes/PhD supervisor for four years before moving into researcher development. I am an EMCC Coach Practitioner, Resilient Leaders Consultant, and Certified Associate in Project Management. I am passionate about ensuring equitable and inclusive development for all staff who research, and seek to create environments and opportunities that empower individuals to succeed using various activities and experiences.
I do this by:
- Supporting the Research Staff Association to run development activities, such as Lunch & Learn, RSA Buddy Scheme, and annual Research Staff Conference
- Leading the creation and delivery of development programmes, such as WriteFest, Making an Impact, and National Postdoc Appreciation Week
- Leading on the creation, delivery and reporting of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers action plan, by supporting the Concordat Steering Group
- Building cross-institutional programmes to ensure an integrated development offer for all staff who research
