XJTLU and Suzhou Industrial Park government co-founded the XJTLU Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy in November 2020. Its goal is to build, within 10 years, a Pharma Valley of China – a globally recognised, influential and best-in-class industry hub in China. Suzhou will be the site of a large biopharmaceutical ecosystem, featuring leading global pharmaceutical companies, premier healthcare providers and world-class academic forums.
The JCPT brings together researchers from both institutions working in collaboration with industry partners based in the Suzhou Pharma Valley. The JCPT will facilitate joint research projects between The University of Liverpool, Academy of Pharmacy and industry, supporting the development of new therapies, particularly in the area of cell and gene therapy, building on the strengths of both The University of Liverpool’s Department for Pharmacology and Therapeutics and XJTLU’s Academy of Pharmacy. The Joint Centre will also serve as a catalyst for new teaching and postgraduate training opportunities; for XJTLU students to come to Liverpool, and for Liverpool students to study and carry out research at XJTLU.
