Why are we contacting you?
Targeted Lung Health Checks are being offered to people identified by their GPs as aged from 55 to 74, who are at high risk of lung disease. You have been previously contacted.
We very much hope you will take part in our University of Liverpool P4-LHC research study and take up the offer of an NHS Targeted Lung Health Check.
To take up the offer of an NHS Targeted Lung Health Check, please call +44 (0)151 254 3032.
Over half of those approached have already done so. Please refer to the Targeted Lung Health Check leaflet previously sent or the NHS Targeted Lung Health Check website.
Why should I have a NHS Targeted Lung Health Check?
You will receive a Targeted Lung Health Check to help identify your risk of lung disease and, if that risk is high, you will have a scan to detect any disease in your lungs.
Most people at high risk do not have lung disease, but finding it early improves your outcome.
If you want to take part in the P4-LHC research at the University of Liverpool, then please complete the paper consent form we posted to you and send it to us with a sample of your pee (urine). Easy to use instructions are provided.
Further information is provided in the additional participant information sheet.
Why should I participate in the study?
Taking part in this research will help us to develop new ways to find lung disease, that may help you and your community in the future.
Will my NHS care be affected?
No. Whether or not you take part your other medical care will not be affected and all your data will remain confidential.
The P4-LHC method is still being developed, but your sample will help us develop better methods for detecting disease.
Thank you for taking time to read this information.
Additional information on confidentiality and how we handle your personal data can be found in the P4-LHC Privacy Notice.
