Living Lab
At the University of Liverpool, embracing the concept of a Living Lab means harnessing the talents of our students and researchers to address social responsibility and sustainability challenges within our infrastructure, operations, and behaviours.
In November 2022, the University published its Climate Plan, outlining our commitment to exploring Living Lab opportunities that integrate research, teaching, and operations to advance sustainability.
As part of the Education and Student Experience pillar in the University’s strategic framework, Liverpool 2031, we are implementing Living Labs to reimagine our research-connected curriculum. This approach applies University research to real-world challenges, emphasises skills development for further study and high-skilled careers, and ensures that students from all backgrounds have the opportunity to thrive in their studies and research.
Building on this, in June 2024, we reaffirmed our commitment by joining a joint declaration with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on Embracing a Living Lab Approach to Promote Carbon Neutrality.
