Workshop: Collaborating for a more sustainable curriculum
From the 19-23 February the NUS are holding their first ever ‘”Teach-in” week to raise awareness of why the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) should be at the heart of higher education, and help catalyse the change needed to make this happen.
To mark this special occasion the Guild of Students and the Centre for Innovation in Education are hosting the workshop “Engaging students in complex global challenges in the curriculum”.
The workshop will be an opportunity to explore and discuss examples of innovative educational practice in the sector, and an opportunity to share your own practise within Liverpool.
The UN’s SDG’s will be discussed as a potentially useful resource for reflecting on the design of programmes. The event will provide opportunities to explore how complex global challenges can support our education strategy objectives - educational hallmarks and principles; authentic assessment, research-connected teaching, authentic assessment, global citizenship, employer engagement and digital literacies.
The University and the Guild will be welcoming guest speaker Chris Willmore, Professor of Sustainability and Law at the University of Bristol. Chris has been a key advocate for sustainable development in education both within Bristol University and nationally.
The event takes place on Tuesday, 20 February in Seminar Room 12, South Campus Teaching Hub starting with lunch and networking at 12.15pm with the workshop running until 1.50pm. Staff can book a place by emailing: eddev@liverpool.ac.uk.
During the week of 19-23 February, Lecturers and teaching staff across UK universities and colleges are being asked to pledge to include the SDG’s within their teaching, learning, and assessment on their courses. Staff can make a pledge by following the link to the SDG Teach-in.
