Two University of Liverpool PhD students were recently named as runners up in the global Principles of Responsible Management Education Awards 2021, in recognition of their innovative Liverpool Fashion Summit programme.

Julia Marcet-Alonso and Olly Kennedy received the accolade from PRME, a global scheme that recognises initiatives across the world that promote sustainability linked to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The pair have also been invited to present at the PRME Regional UK & Ireland Conference in July.

Now in its second year, the Liverpool Fashion Summit is a student-led event that aims to tackle the biggest issues in one of the world's largest industries. It provides a platform for businesses, consumers, and academics to debate and discuss fashion industry trends and best practice, raise awareness of the key barriers to change, and to explore the part that everyone can play in making fashion more sustainable.

Julia Marcet-Alonso said “We feel honoured to be recognised for the work we have been doing. We really want to make a positive change and this award gives us visibility as well as the recognition to continue doing what we do. We'll soon start preparing LFS2022 and this award is a boost to go even further.”

Olly and Julia are keen to collaborate with other students, and if you would like to find out more and join the Liverpool Fashion Summit team, please contact J.Marcet-Alonso@liverpool.ac.uk.
