Overview
The University of Liverpool’s Institute of Infection, Veterinary, and Ecological Sciences (IVES) was established to bring together leading medical, veterinary and basic science researchers from across the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. It undertakes world-leading research in infection and global health, studying infectious diseases of humans and animals in nearly all parts of the world, with particular focus on the UK and sub-Saharan Africa.
Our global health research focuses on reducing the burden from infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance; improving the health and welfare of animals; and understanding and mitigating the impacts of environmental change on health. To facilitate this work, we have excellent research facilities in the Liverpool and Leahurst campuses, research bases in Kenya and Malawi, and strategic partnerships in India, China and many other countries.
Research themes
- Infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance in people and animals;
