Young Adult Carer’s (YAC) Bursary
The Young Adult Carer’s Bursary is for students aged 18 – 25 on 1 September 2025 and is worth £1,000 for each year of study.
To be eligible, you must have:
- A household income below £35,000
- Been in receipt of Carers' Allowance prior to the start of the course or engaged with your local Carer's Centre or YAC Services as a registered carer. You must produce evidence to confirm this.
If you've not been involved with a formal service it may be possible for us to accept written evidence of your status from a medical professional or teacher/tutor.
Students who later become a Young Adult Carer whilst studying at the University can apply to receive the award.
Please contact the Wellbeing Team on advice@liverpool.ac.uk.
This bursary is for UK Undergraduate students.
Typically, full-time students are not eligible to claim Carer’s Allowance. If you are claiming Carers’ Allowance prior to starting your university course, your eligibility for this benefit will cease when you enrol at university. It is important that you notify the Benefits Agency that you have started full-time study to make sure you do not accrue subsequent overpayment.
Students will be ineligible to receive the YAC’s bursary if in receipt of Carer’s Allowance.
