Hong Kong Graduate Association & Tung Foundation Postgraduate Scholarships
The University is able to offer competitive scholarships for offer holders from Hong Kong, SAR and PR China for both postgraduate taught master's and research programmes.
Amount
The University of Liverpool Graduate Association Hong Kong postgraduate scholarships are worth up to £5,000 or up to £10,000 and are awarded to students originating from Hong Kong and mainland China who can prove academic excellence and have been admitted to pursue full-time studies at the University of Liverpool.
The Tung Foundation postgraduate scholarships is worth £10,000 and is awarded annually to students originating from Hong Kong and mainland China who can prove academic excellence and have been admitted to pursue full-time studies at the University of Liverpool.

The Tung Foundation
The Tung Foundation, founded by the late CY Tung, father of Liverpool graduates, CH Tung (BEng Hons Marine Engineering 1960, Hon LLD 1997) and CC Tung (BEng Hons Mechanical Engineering 1964, Hon LLD 2009), supports social, cultural and educational causes.
ULGAHK
The University of Liverpool Graduate Association (Hong Kong) (ULGAHK) scholarships were established in 1997 following a generous donation from an anonymous benefactor. The objectives of the scholarships are to promote educational exchange and academic research respectively, between the University of Liverpool and residents of Hong Kong.
Eligibility
The scholarships are open to candidates originating from Hong Kong and mainland China who are or will be studying full-time postgraduate (postgraduate taught or postgraduate research) studies at the main University of Liverpool campus. Candidates are required to have made an application to study at the University of Liverpool’s main campus.
The scholarships are open to postgraduate students in all years of study at the time of application, however the awards are only available for a maximum of 3 years, subject to successful reapplication each year. The scholarship is not automatically renewed and recipients will need to reapply for the scholarship each year.
Successful candidates will be awarded a scholarship to cover partial payment of the tuition fee or living expenses. The scholarship may or may not be held concurrently with any other scholarships or bursaries at the discretion of the Award Committee. Those already in receipt of China Scholarships Council funding will not be eligible.
Please note: successful candidates must have a UK bank account in their own name that accepts BACS payments.
How to apply
Applications for this scholarship are now closed for 2024. They will reopen in Spring 2025.
When applications open, candidates should provide all applicable listed documentation below, including the scholarship application form completed in full. Please note that incomplete applications will not be considered.

- Supporting letter from your academic supervisor (current postgraduate students only)
- Relevant certificates (including your undergraduate degree certificate) and transcripts (record sheets of your marks or grades)
- Academic CV.
Current scholarship recipients
Current scholarship recipients are to submit all the following documents to giving@liverpool.ac.uk.
- Completed postgraduate application form (47KB, DOCX)
- A one-page report of your progress (detailing your academic year progress)
- Relevant transcripts (record sheets of your marks or grades)
- Academic CV.
