International Slavery Scholarships
The School of Histories, Languages and Cultures are offering two scholarships to Black British students in 2024/25. The scholarships are open to students applying for the MA in International Slavery Studies at the University.
Amount
The scholarship will be open to two students in the 2024/25 academic year and will cover the full cost of tuition fees and a £10,000 bursary.
Eligibility
Please check your eligibility before considering this scholarship. Awards may be withdrawn if we later become aware that successful students have not met the eligibility criteria or have provided false information.
Applicants must satisfy all of the following criteria to be considered for the scholarship:
- You must be of Black ethnicity (including Black British, Black African, Black Caribbean or dual heritage backgrounds)
- Permanently reside in the UK
- You must have been assessed for fee status as a ‘home’ student, or expect to be assessed as a ‘home student’
- Be applying for the MA in International Slavery Studies programme, to commence study in 2024-25, on either a full-time or part-time basis.

- How the programme will help you achieve future career plans
- Why you should be considered for funding support
- Indicate if you are applying for any other UoL bursary, awards or scholarships. All scholarship applicants will receive notification of the outcome of their scholarship application separately from the outcome of their application for a place on the MA programme.
