Postgraduate Global Advancement Scholarship

Our Postgraduate Global Advancement Scholarship is available to eligible new international students starting a master’s course with us.

Please note, the information below applies for September 2025 entry onwards. If you're joining a master's course in January 2025, please see our Postgraduate Global Advancement Scholarship for January 2025 entry.

Award

We're offering a generous tuition fee discount for eligible international students across more than 150 of our master's courses.

If you're a new international student, who hasn't studied with us before, you could be eligible for a tuition fee discount of up to £5,000, depending on your choice of course.  

If you combine this tuition fee discount with other scholarships or bursaries, the total discount will be capped at 50% of your tuition fee. 

Courses

The tuition fee discount you might be eligible to receive varies by course. You can:

  • Check you meet our eligibility criteria.
Courses with a tuition fee discount of £5,000 for all eligible international students

You could be eligible for a tuition fee discount of £5,000 if you're joining one of the courses below and meet our eligibility criteria.

Courses with a tuition fee discount of up to £5,000 for eligible international students. This includes £2,500 for a first-class degree and £2,500 for specific nationalities.

You could be eligible for one or both of:

  • A tuition fee discount of £2,500 if you have a first-class degree or an equivalent qualification as defined by the University of Liverpool. If you're domiciled in the People's Republic of China when making your master's application, we're unable to offer you this £2,500 discount, but you can apply for our Vice-Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship for China
  • A tuition fee discount of £2,500 if you're a national of one of the following countries:
    • Africa: Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Kingdom of Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Togo, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia
    • Asia: Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, India, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam 
    • Caribbean and Americas: Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico, Saint Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and The Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago
    • Europe: Cyprus, Malta, Turkey
    • Australia and Pacific: Australia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.

You'll need to be joining one of the courses below and meet our eligibility criteria.

Eligibility criteria

To receive this scholarship, you'll need to:

  • Be joining an eligible master's course, including MRes programmes, from September 2025
  • Be studying on campus in Liverpool
  • Be paying the tuition fees for the course yourself at the international rate
  • Accept your offer of a place and pay your tuition fee deposit by the deadline indicated in your offer letter.

We won't be able to offer you this scholarship if you:

  • Studied at University of Liverpool International College, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), or completed your undergraduate degree at the University of Liverpool. If you've studied with us before, including as a Study Abroad, Exchange or XJTLU student, you could be eligible to receive a tuition fee discount through our University of Liverpool Graduate Loyalty Advancement Scholarship
  • Will be studying online
  • Are having your fees paid by a sponsor, such as a government, commercial organisation or employer, on your behalf
  • Are joining a PGCert, Professional Doctorate (including DDSc awards), MPhil, MArch or PhD.

If you have applied for or intend to study part time, any tuition fee discount you're eligible to receive will be applied at a pro-rata rate over the duration of your course. For example, if you intend to study over two years, you'll receive 50% of the tuition fee discount in each year.

How to apply

No application is necessary. The Postgraduate Global Advancement Scholarship will be awarded to all eligible students who meet the criteria up to a maximum of £5,000.

This award has no exchangeable cash value. We reserve the right to withdraw the scholarship at any time and/or if programme capacities are reached.
