Checking your visa
You must check your Student Route visa for any errors including the expiry date. You should have been given a visa until the end date of your course, plus four months. If there are any errors, please contact us immediately for advice. It is your responsibility to check that your visa expiry date is correct and that you have enough time on your visa to complete your current course.
Renewing your passport or visa
If you renew your passport or visa you must inform Student Administration and provide them with a copy of this. The University has a duty to keep up-to-date copies of both your visa and your passport.
Maintaining your attendance
Share your experience - NOT your attendance codes!
Make the most out of being on campus, meet with friends and attend your timetabled activities.
Please do not share attendance codes with your peers:
- Falsifying attendance records not only stops the University providing necessary support to those who need it but it can get you in serious trouble for breaching University policy!
- Missing a small number of lectures (for genuine reasons) will not impact your eligibility for the Graduate Route visa BUT falsifying records could get you in serious trouble!
You must attend all of your classes, meetings, tutorials etc. You must report any unavoidable absence to your academic School as soon as you can. If you are absent from University for any reason you must not work. It is your responsibility to maintain your attendance.
If your study site is not the UK, you will not qualify for a Student Visa.
The University monitors attendance and engagement for all students. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) require the University to record and monitor the attendance of Student Route Visa holders in particular and may request to access these records at any point. If your attendance and/or engagement is deemed unsatisfactory by your academic department then you may be suspended or withdrawn from your studies and this would lead to the cancellation of your Student Route visa.
If you are doing your dissertation, waiting for your viva or writing up your thesis then this is term time. Do not plan any travel or work more than 20 hours per week during this time until you have submitted all of your work including any necessary corrections.
Your Student Route visa is only valid if you are studying ‘with attendance’ on a full-time programme. If you are studying with ‘partial attendance’ (attendance in either semester one or semester two only) then you would be required to leave the UK during the semester you were not studying with attendance and you would need to apply for a new Student Route visa in order to return to your studies. Please contact us for more advice.
Suspending or withdrawing from your programme
If you suspend your studies, then the University has a duty to tell UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) and withdraw sponsorship of your Student visa. UKVI will then cancel your visa and you will need to leave the UK as soon as you can. For further details about suspending your studies see here.
If you withdraw from your studies, then the University has a duty to tell UKVI and withdraw sponsorship of your Student visa. UKVI will then cancel your visa and you will need to leave the UK as soon as you can. For further details about withdrawing from studies see here.
It is your responsibility to seek advice on your visa before suspending or withdrawing from your studies.
Keeping your contact details up to date
You must keep your term-time and permanent address, your telephone number(s) and your personal email address up to date on your student record. You should do this using Liverpool Life. The University must be able to contact you at all times so you must keep your records up to date.
