National Centre for Atmospheric Science
The National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS) is a distributed NERC research centre, with staff based at a number of research organisations across the UK, including the University of Manchester.
The Met Office provides operational forecasts of weather and hazards and has a comprehensive research programme into weather and climate science, with 500 active scientists, with approximately 100 who could supervise graduate student projects. The Met Office is supporting this DTP and will contribute:
Supporting CASE students to conduct research on the determination of bathymetry, the geological and biological nature of the sea bed and other marine environmental parameters in coastal regions by integrating remote sensing data with coupled a variety of process and shelf sea circulation models.
Total currently supports PhD training and research projects with the Universities of Manchester and Liverpool. TOTAL recruits many PhD graduates and will support the DTP in further increasing the number, and improving the training, of PhD graduates with appropriate skills.
