Liverpool Guild of Students
The Liverpool Guild of Students is your student union on campus. The Guild is run by students, for students, aiming to provide excellent opportunities, services and facilities.
The Guild exists to improve, enrich and develop the lives of all our students, whoever you are and whatever your story. When you choose to study here, you automatically become a member of the student union.
What does the Guild do?
The Guild is there to support you. It's a great place to socialise, meet like-minded people and get involved in clubs, societies and many other great activities. It’s also there to offer a range of support services throughout your time at university, whether you need help with personal matters or something related to your studies.
Each year, students vote for 4 student officers who will run the student union. The officers are responsible for organising activities such as Welcome Week, running campaigns and attending University Committee meetings, where they represent the wider student community.
Get involved
If you’re interested in getting involved with the Guild or becoming an officer, you can find out more about student union elections on the Guild website.
There are also a range of volunteering opportunities you can sign up to, to boost your CV and have a direct impact on improving your university experience. From helping us become a more sustainable University, to supporting other students with their mental health, there’s so much going on in our student union.
Otherwise, the best way to get involved is to join one of our many clubs and societies, where you can meet others who share your interests.
Where is the Guild?
The Guild is based in the Reilly Building, just off University Square in the centre of campus. Visit the Guild’s website for opening hours and contact details.
What services are available at the student union?
The Guild is the place to go for everything that makes your university experience special outside of the lecture theatre. It’s home to over 200 societies where students with common interests can get together and share their passion or hobby with a like-minded group.
Food and drink
There are a range of tasty food options on offer in the Guild, so if you’re stopping by, you won’t want to miss out on our delicious burritos, nacho bowls, topped fries, burgers and wraps. Whatever you fancy, there’s something on the menu at an affordable price. Browse the menu.
The Guild is also home to a shop, where you can pick up university merchandise, food and drink, bus passes and study essentials.
Live music
By day we're a study and social space but by night, we welcome some amazing performers to the Mountford Hall, the second largest concert venue in Liverpool. This is the place to go for live music, don’t miss out on the chance to say, “I saw them before they were famous!”
Some of the many acts to have graced the stage over the years include Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Killers, The Smiths, Ellie Goulding, Blossoms, Sam Fender, Wolf Alice and Trixie Mattel. Check out upcoming events on the Guild website.
Student support
Above all else, your student union is here to support you through every step of your university journey. You’re welcome to drop in for free, independent and confidential advice on all aspects of student life.
Whether you want to talk to us about something to do with your course, need help with your finances, accommodation, or anything to do with your overall safety and wellbeing, we’re here to help you. We can also point you in the right direction if we can’t resolve your issue there and then.
