Receiving funds

This page provides information about receiving funds.

Before travelling to the UK or as soon as you arrive:

You must open an UK Bank Account for transfer of funds. The University works with Convera to process our Federal Aid and Private Loans and you will receive a notification email from them via a secure platform asking you to upload your UK Bank Details.

The University of Liverpool does not authorise the payment of funds directly to you and you should NOT expect to receive funds before you arrive in the UK. We recommend that you have sufficient funds for accommodation, books, supplies and any other personal expenses during the first four to six weeks of your stay.

Payment of funds from direct/private loans or VA Educational Benefits will be on two or three separate dates depending on your degree program.

The table below outlines the estimated payment dates.

* Please note the first instalment of your loan will only be disbursed once you have fully completed academic registration.

The payment date is the date that your funds are paid against outstanding charges for tuition fees and/or accommodation fees on your student account with the University, and not the date that funds will be available to you. Any funds remaining after payment is made against your student account will then be paid into your bank account in GBP (£).

You will be notified by email when funds have been paid with a statement explaining how your charges have been calculated and either:

  • A request for the outstanding ½ or ⅓ (whichever is appropriate) of tuition/accommodation fees owed to the University is made, for payment by a determined date
    or
  • Any remaining funds will be paid directly into your UK bank account in GBP(£) no later than 14 days after payment has been made against your student account.

The University is unable to guarantee payment dates as it depends upon funds being made available by the lender/sponsor.

You will also need to prove Satisfactory Academic Progress throughout the course of the academic year prior to release of any subsequent instalments of your loan.
